JK ROWLING'S Commencement speech at HARVARD

Recently I came across an article on reader’s digest regarding the commencement speech given by JK ROWLING at the HARVARD graduation ceremony. I was so interested to know what she said during the ceremony, so I went to search for her speech at YouTube. I’m sure most of us recognize who JK ROWLING is. Even if you don’t know who she is, I’m sure you must have heard of “Harry Potter”. One of the most famous series of novels made to movies. As always been said that, human always see at the end result when she has already succeeded. But behind her achievement lies a story which I find it very meaningful for me to share with all of you.
In her speech she talked about failure. Like most of everyone, we are afraid to fail and she also told that it is not that poverty that she afraid the most but failure. It makes sense as I’m afraid to fail too. We think of so many consequences if we failed for instance, what others has to say, what’s life going to be, and many more feelings and thoughts that we conceive that it’s going to happened in which these lead us to we “live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default”. When I heard she said this, it makes me realize that all this while I’m actually living my life so cautiously. She also shared the benefit of failure though it’s not fun to fail but it does contribute towards who you have become today. Close your eyes, and think a while, have you learnt anything from your pass experienced? We never realize that actually we have grown by doing things wrongly and make ourselves become a better person every time we recover from our failure. As what she told in her speech “because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential”. Thanks JK for a wonderful speech which has awaken my spirit to chase my dreams without having any hesitant and afraid to fail. So my beloved friends who are reading this, let’s together live our life to the fullest. Fear nothing but HIM.I wish you all the best and good luck to everyone.

"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
~Thomas Alva Edison~

P/s: If you have spare time, watch her speech at YouTube. You can also search for Steve Job (founder of apple) commencement speech at Stanford. Very interesting!!

TAMAN NEGARA, PAHANG [1st May~4th May 2009]

During our last trip to LANGKAWI early this year, we set a goal in which to step at TAMAN NEGARA before one of our team members get married year ending this year. I’m glad after all the hassles we faced; we finally made ourselves at TAMAN NEGARA PAHANG last labour day. It was a great experience one can never acquire by just seeing pictures, though having said that a picture tells a thousand words. I never had this kind of experience before which makes me so excited even before we reach TAMAN NEGARA. I was anticipating a lot of things and I’m glad I get all these during this trip. 1st of all I would like to thank those behind the scene to materialize this trip which are MR HELMI for doing all the research and planning, MR ZUL for the transportation and most importantly the camera to capture every moments we carved together, BUDU for planning the financial during the trip, KASHAH for the thoughts and ideas and not to forget our guest of honor, none other than MR DEQ SHAM for filling our 4 days & 3 nights at TAMAN NEGARA, full with smiles and laughter. Thanks everyone for being a good team player, which I think this is one of the most important contributing factors to make this trip a good one as good as we had at LANGKAWI.

On the 1st may at 4:30 a.m we left KL for TAMAN NEGARA, PAHANG. This is the 1st time I get to reunite with my friends whom I’ve not seen since our last trip to LANGKAWI early this year on the 1st January. We go there in a Waja owned by MR ZUL, one of the team members for this trip. All six of us were forced to sit “comfortably” in the waja. But it’s ok as the journey coloured with joys and laughter with the “lawak-lawak sengal from diksyam”..and also our singing sensation, KASHAH, MR ZUL and BUDU have made our journey more interesting. MR IM was the driver and I just join to laugh when necessary as I’m not good at singing at all. None of the songs they sang I can sing with the correct lyrics but at least I tried. Time goes so fast that we never aware that we’ve arrive at Pahang so fast. We dropped by to perform our subuh prayer (Alhamdulillah) and continue our journey to KUALA TAHAN where the jetty to TAMAN NEGARA is located. As we reach there the 1st thing we do was to have our breakfast as everyone is in real hungry. Everyone had “nasi lemak” which they claim as “sedap sgt…santan banyak dia letak..tak macam kat KL”. I guess this is a 3rd party certification for this restaurant. You should try the “nasi lemak” if you ever make yourself to TAMAN NEGARA. How ever I had my half boiled egg and 2 pieces of bread as my stomach is too sensitive. I dare not to try the “nasi lemak” as it could have ruined my hold trip. Then we proceed to the travel agent MR IM had deal earlier where we have to wait for the boat ride at 10:15a.m to transport us to our “home” for four days here. While waiting we get the chance to play volley ball at the riverside of the river. The last time I played volleyball was during my UTM days. It was along time ago and this brings back our sweet memories during our UTM days.

NUSA VILLAGE is where we stayed during our trip this time, a nice and “cool” place to stay if you happen to visit TAMAN NEGARA one day. You can get a boat ride to reach this village in 20 minutes from KUALA TAHAN. The best thing about this Village is the food; though the service is quite slow due to the shortage of man power “I guess” but the food itself will curb your anger for waiting the food so long. The taste of the food is “marvelous”. Every time we had our meal, we had to wait for at least 1 hour to have the food served. Can you imagine having your stomach singing a lot of songs and yet the food still not arrived? How ever, it healed once the food flows into your stomach. The cook whom we call “kakak multitask” is really a good cook. As for me I would recommend you to have any kind of soup there. It tastes really good and nutritious too. It’s up to an extend where my fellow friends are “rolling their eyes” as I order the same menu every time I ordered. I had “mee soup” and “meehoon soup” for most of my meal. During our 4 days stay there I’m comfortable with the room and the environment. The insects sing for you all night long so that you can sleep tight. In the evening you get to swim and play around at the riverside at NUSA VILLAGE. Apart from that, if you like to experience “fish spa”, you get to do it anytime you want and most of all it is for free.

Among all activities we had during this trip I must say that the trekking we had everyday is the one that I love the most. I get to taste the fresh oxygen, pamper my eyes with green therapy which I find it very interesting. The feeling when we get to complete each adventurous track, only those who get to go through will know how does it feel? Not to forget the itchiness caused by the mosquito and the so called “pacat” thought its irritating, it worth experiencing this, especially with your best buddies. With these people around, you don’t even feel tired going through this as the team spirit and the friendship to help each other push you to the end without you even noticed that you’ve been through the hills and the woods. Abai Water Falls, Canopy walk, Lubuk Simpon, Gua telinga, and Kumbang Hide are the places we had to trek to get there. I missed the ambience, the sounds, the smells, the feelings, the “chit chat” we had among us and also not to forget the flash lights from abg zul’s camera. Besides we visited Kelah Sanctuary which’s also known as Bee Sanctuary. These are our four days activities we had at our TAMAN NEGARA visit 2009. For details of our TAMAN NEGARA exploration and adventure please read my fellow friends blog. (MR ZUL, BUDU, KASHAH, MR HELMI)

After all the adventures and joys we had, we came to the day where we have to say good bye to TAMAN NEGARA. It was a great experience I shall never forget my entire life. Thanks everyone for having me with you guys during this trip. I will cherish every moments we carved. For those who have not been to TAMAN NEGARA, I fully recommend you to visit at least once in your life time. TAMAN NEGARA has a lot to offer. I have had my “pengembaraan bermula” with my team, when is your turn?

“Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived”

“Good bye TAMAN NEGARA….PERHENTIAN wait for us”
